Catholic Safe Environment

Catholic Safe Environment

Helping Catholic organizations create safe environments.

The 2002 Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People launched a major effort to systematically address the issue of child sexual abuse in the Church. Dioceses strengthened employee and volunteer screening and selection practices, implemented model policies, increased supervision of children in church programs, and trained hundreds of thousands of congregants in child abuse prevention.

Praesidium developed the first education program for Dioceses, Protecting God’s Children®, and an updated program,Called to Protect®, and has worked with numerous Dioceses and Catholic youth-serving organizations across the country.

Screening and Selection

Less than 5 percent of offenders have a criminal history and nearly all of them will pass your background check. Praesidium’s comprehensive screening tools help keep them out of your organization.
